Tutoring and Mentoring Program
Tutoring and Mentoring Program is a year-round after-school program offered Monday through Friday 2:30pm -6:30 pm that allows volunteers to help students daily in reaching all levels of academic excellence. In partnership with Pitt County School Teachers, every child goes home with their homework and class projects completed. As well as providing positive role models to all students by inspiring and encouraging them to change and improve life perspectives of themselves, family, others and the community. We serve Pre-School through High School Students (3-17). It is the goal to get every child in at that age of 3 years old and allow them to grow up and graduate from the program.
In order to volunteer, you must be at least 14 years of age and willing to commit to at least 2 hours per week. We are always seeking tutors and mentors. If you are interested in volunteering please contact our volunteer coordinator at melissa@littlewilliecenter.org.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp is a 7 week program that is held Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The program is designed to love, teach and empower 30-40 campers and their parents by offering daily devotion, break out class sessions, lunch and recreation. The camp will be staffed with volunteer teachers that may consist of college undergraduates, graduate students and community leaders. Grades will run from PreK-K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th-5th , 6th-7th, and 8th-9th grades. Lessons are designed to include Math, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies and Vocabulary to name a few.
Through implementation of educational skill builders each camper will maintain their previous educational concepts taught in the previous grade level as well as be challenged with new knowledge and learning techniques in their promotional grade. As an additional incentive all campers will be treated to off campus activities such as nature walks, imagination station, public library, museums and others.
